The main analysis and fire assay laboratory performs analytical control for all research activities of the Institute. Since the range of investigations is wide (from mined ore up to metal production) the range of analytical works is also wide because the subjects of investigation are various non-ferrous and precious metals ores and concentrates as well as metallurgical products (ore, concentrate, tailings, process solutions, roasted material, slag, alloy, etc.).

The main research methods include modern chemical and physicochemical techniques (atomic-absorption, polarizing photometric, extinction, etc.) as well as fire assaying.

Ore analysis comprises analysis of wide range of elements including: Cu, Mo, Zn, Pb, Fe, Cd, Ni, Co, Cr, Mn, Sn, As, Sb, Se, Te, S, precious metals, etc.

High accuracy of assays is ensured due to the work of the highly experienced personnel and the necessary laboratory equipment and instrumentation (Varian Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, Flame photometer, Polarographs, Photoelectric Calorimeter, etc.).

Activities

The main analytic laboratory has provided consultation to laboratories of non-ferrous metallurgy enterprises of Armenia for many years (Kajaran copper-molybdenum combine, Kapan mining enrichment combine, Agarak copper-molybdenum combine, etc.) as well as conducted check analysis for the mentioned enterprises.
